Our Mission Statement

St. Matthias Lutheran Church is a Spirit-led Congregation which worships God through
word and sacraments; and serves His Church and the community through fellowship, evangelism,
Christian growth, equipping others to care for one another and respond to social concerns.

Our Staff

PastorBill
Pastor William Magee

Pastor Bill was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Navy for 11 years. He completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Rowan University and went on to earn his Masters of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. Pastor Bill took the call for St. Matthias Lutheran in January of 2001.

In his down time, Pastor Bill enjoys sports of all kind and loves to play hockey. His family includes wife Stacy and three children, Tory, Billy and Shawn.



Karen
Karen Cormier
Administrative Assistant

Karen, an Alabama native, joined the St. Matthias staff in 2008. Prior to joining our staff she was a full time mother and homemaker, including home educating her children. Karen's family includes husband Bill and children Julie and Michael.

She enjoys both art and music, including making her own line of greeting cards. Some of Karen's other hobbies include bike riding, camping, shelling, reading and traveling.




Kathy
Kathleen Markett
Organist

Kathleen earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of South Florida. She has played professionally and has lead worship services for over 35 years.

From 1969 - 2002, Kathleen was the Women's Choir and Chamber Choir Director at Dunedin High School. She has given private voice and piano lessons for over 36 years. Kathleen has performed in numerous community theatre groups, most recently she played the role of "Nellie" in The St. Petersburg Little Theater production of "Carousel".

Diane Harrop
Deacon

Diane was born in Rochester, New York where she was baptized at Redeemer Lutheran Church. When she was 10 years old, her family moved to St. Pete, where she graduated from North East High School in St. Pete. Diane works as the office secretary for Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Pete.

Diane was a graduate of the first diakonia class of the Florida Bahama Synod in 2008. She completed her requirements and was consecrated in February of 2009.

Diane enjoys yoga and walking and is a huge Rays fan. She resides in St. Pete with her four cats.
